Touchstone Energy is an alliance of over 690 cooperatives in 46 states serving 22 million customers every day. As the financial partner to the nation’s rural electric cooperative network, CFC is pleased to support these efforts on a national level.
The National Rural Electric Cooperative Association (NRECA) is the national service organization dedicated to representing the national interests of cooperative electric utilities and the consumers they serve. The NRECA Board of Directors oversees the association’s activities and consists of 47 members, one from each state in which there is an electric distribution cooperative.
Cooperative.com is a secure and private Web site for members of the electric cooperative family sponsored by NRECA, CFC, NRTC and Federated.
NRTC was founded in 1986 by electric cooperatives, the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association (NRECA) and the National Rural Utilities Cooperative Finance Corporation (CFC). NRTC provides products and services developed specifically to meet the needs of rural utilities and their customers, such as high-speed Internet access via WiMAX and satellite, full service Internet access and support, advanced metering infrastructure, SmartSCADA, wireless technologies, power quality products, long distance programs, mobile phone service, IP backbone services, direct broadcast satellite service (DBS) with DIRECTV and programming for Internet protocol television (IPTV).
Federated is an insurance exchange, with a structure that’s very similar to a cooperative offering insurance for rural electric and telephone cooperatives.
In addition to Rural Electric Cooperatives, the National Cooperative Business Association (NCBA) supports cooperative businesses throughout the nation. NCBA's Web site provides a full range of information and support for cooperative businesses.
